Baseball: Lincoln advances in Division II with walk-off hit

Lincoln, seeded No. 1 in the City Section Division II playoffs, had a tough opener on Tuesday but prevailed over Wilson, 2-1, on a walk-off hit by Matthew Castro that scored Brandon Oroxon with the winning run in the eighth inning.
Oroxon, Lincoln’s standout receiver in football and the fastest player in school, was put in as a pinch runner.
Hugo Avendano threw a complete game for Lincoln.
In a Southern Section Division 1 wild-card game, Saugus defeated Newbury Park, 6-3. Caden Gonzales had two hits and two RBIs. Saugus plays at Sherman Oaks Notre Dame on Tuesday.
Edison defeated Long Beach Poly, 5-1. Noah Kronfly threw six innings, allowing four hits.
