Football: Booming punts, long kicks, long snaps in Sherman Oaks
- Share via
Chris Sailer and Chris Rubio are spending all week at Sherman Oaks Notre Dame teaching kickers and long snappers at their camp.
The footballs were flying Friday morning, and a Notre Dame athletic official told me, “Tell Sailer to make sure the punters don’t hit the press box.”
Sorry, they were hitting the press box.
Blake Johnson of Los Alamitos and Blake Cusick of Monrovia are two of the top punters in the Southland.
Kevin Robledo of Westlake and Ben Kreitenberg of Chaminade return for their senior years as kickers.
John Aloma of Simi Valley is a rising junior longer snapper prospect, trying to challenge A.J. Carty of Servite.
Aloma, though, had everyone beat in fashion, wearing red, blue and white USA socks and shorts.
There were more than 70 athletes participating, including lots from out of state. They were enjoying the Southern California weather and wondering how they could top Aloma’s fashion choices.
