Update: Morale in the Chivas USA locker room leaped after its 2-0 victory over the San Jose Earthquakes on Wednesday. It was Chivas’ first win in more than a month, and much was due to a solid defensive performance which eliminated nearly all of the Earthquakes’ chances. Midfielder Nick LaBrocca sealed the win with his team-leading fifth goal of the season. Duplicating that performance will be difficult against a Sporting Kansas City club which has gone nine matches without a loss, outscoring its opponents 11-5 during that stretch. This will be Kansas City’s fifth match in its new stadium, where it has not lost.
