Update: A spot in the U.S. Open Cup quarterfinals is at stake in this matchup. Portland defeated San Jose in the only all-Major League Soccer game of the fourth round while the Galaxy was pushed to overtime by La Maquina, a Santa Ana-based amateur team. The Galaxy, who started only one first-team player in that game, probably will use a few more regulars in this one, given the step up in competition and the four-day break before their next MLS game.
