Colts’ Adam Vinatieri is randomly drug tested after kicking 53-yarder

Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri was given a random drug test Monday, a day after Indianapolis defeated the Cincinnati Bengals, 26-10, in an AFC wild-card playoff game.

Vinatieri made all four of his field-goal attempts, and both extra points, which is nothing new for the 19-year NFL veteran who has been a Super Bowl champion four times during his days with the New England Patriots and Colts.

Teammate and punter Pat McAfee was rather skeptical that the drug test was “random.”

“When you’re closer to 60 than 20 and bang a 53-yarder 3/4 of the way up the upright... This type of thing is expected #GOAT” McAfee tweeted upon learning of the drug test.

The Bengals were within striking distance until Vinatieri’s two second-half field goals, the final one coming from 53 yards in the fourth quarter.

Then again, Cincinnati kicker Mike Nugent nailed a field goal from 57 yards just before halftime, the second-longest kick in playoff history.

No word on whether he had a “random” drug test.
