USC football: Tailback Javorius Allen makes an impact

USC tailback Javorius Allen could get more opportunities after rushing for two touchdowns in the Trojans’ 38-31 victory over Arizona.

Allen scored his first career touchdown in the second quarter on a one-yard dive into the end zone that harkened to former Trojans great Sam Cunningham.

“I’ve seen a couple of his highlights,” Allen said. “I didn’t even think about that. It was just a reaction. I go with my instinct and sometimes it’s right.”

Allen, who gained 37 yards in six carries, also scored on a four-yard run in the fourth quarter.

Allen was one of five tailbacks who helped the Trojans rush for 249 yards in Ed Orgeron’s first game as interim coach.

“I just want to thank them for giving me an opportunity,” Allen said, “giving me a shot.”
