Javorius Allen left USC for the NFL after his junior season, but the Trojans still have honors candidates at tailback.
Junior Justin Davis and senior Tre Madden were named to the watchlist for the Doak Walker Award, presented annually to college football’s top running back.
Davis served as Allen’s backup in 2014. He rushed for 595 yards and four touchdowns and also caught 13 passes, two for touchdowns.
The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Davis has rushed for 10 career touchdowns.
Madden, 6-1 and 225 pounds, is back after sitting out last season because of a foot injury.
In 2013, Madden rushed for more than 100 yards in four of the first five games before suffering a hamstring injury that limited or sidelined him for the rest of the season.
USC’s Reggie Bush won the Doak Walker Award in 2005.
