On the field:
As a high school senior, Shaw was a Parade All-American. He signed with Florida and spent two seasons in Gainesville. He played in one game as a freshman before injuring his knee and redshirting. Shaw played in 10 games his second season.
He transferred to USC in spring of 2012 after he was granted a hardship waiver by the NCAA and was eligibile to play immediately.
Shaw started 2012 at safety, but was moved to cornerback around midseason to fill a void in the defense. He made 30 tackles, deflected six passes and made two interceptions.
The following season, Shaw returned to safety before he was moved, again, to cornerback. Shaw received honorable mention to the Pac-12 all-conference team after making 67 tackles, intercepting four passes and returning one for a touchdown.
Now a fifth-year senior, Shaw was named one of six team captains this season, as voted by teammates. He was a starting cornerback.
Off the field:
While Shaw was at Florida, his grandather and father began to suffer health issues, which affected his family’s landscaping business. Shaw transferred home to assist with some of the duties.
Often asked during summer interviews what non-football and school-related activities he enjoyed, Shaw said he returned home to Palmdale daily to mow lawns for his family business.
Shaw joined 15 teammates in spring 2012 on a trip to Haiti to build homes.
He was selected by the USC athletic department to speak at the student-athlete graduation ceremony in May.
Shaw interned at CBRE Downtown Commercial Real Estate this summer. He also returned to his former summer league football team, B2G Sports, to assist high school athletes.
