Chicago’s Wrigleyville has become the Bourbon Street of the Midwest. The bustling neighborhood surrounding the Chicago Cubs’ iconic stadium will be party central this weekend, when the Cubs return for their World Series games.
Here are five festive Wrigleyville watering holes, where enough beer will flow this Friday to fill Lake Michigan:
Sluggers World Class Sports Bar & Grill
3540 N. Clark St., (773) 248-0055
In a town loaded with sports bars, this one might be the best. Sluggers is a sprawling place with batting cages, skeeball and a hard-drinking crowd of all ages.
3660 N. Clark St., (773) 755-4444
Sprawling sports bar with 40 brands of beer and a beer garden with a retractable roof. Raucous, loud and right across the street from the stadium.
3655. N. Sheffield Ave., (773) 281-5356
Iconic family owned joint proudly proclaims that it won’t be taking reservations, or charging a cover, for World Series. Be patient. Line to get in will form hours early.
1300 W. Addison St., (773) 477-2900
Looking for a little elbow room? Try this cozy corner tavern with the red door. This is where the locals will go to relax, re-charge and mock the Cleveland fans.
3506 N. Clark St., (773) 537-4452
When you’re really hungry, head to this airy, country-themed hangout for generous portions and an inventive take on the standards: tri-tip, pulled pork egg rolls and beef brisket poutine.
