Your Scene: Close encounter in Canada

Cynthia A. Bobko of Hawthorne speaks to this baby harp seal (about 5 days old) during a harp seal expedition in Canada’s Gulf of St. Lawrence in March. Participants flew by helicopter to ice floes, where they were able to study the seals up close. The small-group tours are offered by Natural Habitat Adventures, nathab.com. “For me, this was a lifelong dream that finally became an unbelievable reality,” Bobko says. She used a Fuji FinePix S8000fd, and an assist from the tour guide, who snapped the shot.
