The casino scenes in “21” were filmed on location at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino (3667 Las Vegas Blvd. S.; [866] 919-7472, www.planethollywood.com).
Planet Hollywood, formerly the Aladdin, also served as the base for the cast and crew during three weeks of pre-production and two more of filming in Las Vegas. The scene in which Laurence Fishburne chases Jim Sturgess, Kate Bosworth and Kevin Spacey through the casino -- past startled slot players at their machines -- was shot here.
Additional filming took place at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino (4455 Paradise Road, [800] 473-7625, www.hardrockhotel.com) and at Red Rock Casino Resort (11011 W. Charleston Blvd., [866] 767-7773, www.redrocklasvegas.com).
The movie contains several sequences inside hotel rooms in Las Vegas. But not a single one of them was actually shot in Sin City. Producer Dana Brunetti says they were all filmed in Boston on sets built to look like high-roller suites along the Strip.
