Puerto Rico: Add a free hike, kayak or zipline tour to your stay
- Share via
Puerto Rico wants you to have more fun. Really.
Its tourism agency is giving away adventure tours -- such as a guided tropical rain-forest hike, a San Juan food tour and a kayak trip on a bay whose waters glow with sea life -- to visitors who stay four nights at selected hotels.
The deal: To get this deal, you can book rooms directly with the hotels listed at the Puerto Rico Tourism Co.’s website or reserve via Travelocity, Orbitz, Expedia and other discount websites.
Then choose one of six free activities: a hike in El Yunque National Forest, a culinary tour of San Juan, a kayak tour of one of Puerto Rico’s bays, a catamaran tour, a zipline ride at ToroVerde Adventure Park or a bicycle tour of Old San Juan. Guests receive vouchers at check-in for up to two tours per reservation (one per guest).
When: The offer, based on availability, is good for reservations made through Oct. 31 for travel before Nov. 16.
Tested: I found a room for $139 a night at the Intercontinental San Juan Resort Spa & Casino (one of the participating hotels) from Nov. 4 to 8 on Travelocity. I also found a room for $144 a night at Hilton Ponce Golf & Casino Resort (also a participating property) on Expedia from Oct. 28 to Nov. 1. Both qualify for the free activity.
One caveat: Free tours vary from property to property, so be sure to check with the hotel before you reserve to make sure they offer the one you want.
